Lifestyle brand Taski has announced the limited-edition “TOIRO × Taski Premium Japanese Knife Series,” created in collaboration with TOIRO, a Los Angeles–based platform and store that shares Japanese food culture from West Hollywood.
This marks Taski’s first co-development project with a Japanese partner based overseas. The collection brings together the blade-making tradition of Seki, Gifu and the contemporary lifestyle of Los Angeles.
Background
With a mission to bring Japanese craftsmanship to the world, douzo inc. connected with Naoko Takei Moore, a pioneer of Japanese food culture in North America and the founder of the Los Angeles select shop TOIRO. That shared vision led to this collaboration.
The collection brings together the skills of craftspeople in Seki, Gifu — a city with an approximately 800-year history of blade-making — and Naoko’s long-standing understanding of the aesthetics and functionality required in contemporary American home cooking. The result is a collection designed to appeal to both professionals and home cooks.
Series highlights
- Hand-finished by craftspeople in Seki: Each blade is sharpened by hand by skilled craftspeople, delivering exceptional sharpness and durability.
- Selected for Gifu Selection: The series is being introduced to the global market as part of “Gifu Selection,” a project that showcases outstanding products from Gifu Prefecture.
- Contemporary design: While carrying forward the spirit of traditional Japanese knives, the collection has a refined presence that feels at home in kitchens and at tables overseas.
Looking ahead
Beginning with this partnership with TOIRO, douzo inc. will continue to develop collaborations with partners around the world, connecting Japanese traditional craft with international markets.
The series is available exclusively at TOIRO’s West Hollywood store and online.
